After a rewarding search in the last conduct
of the Intel Philippine Science Fair, the IPSF adopts
new mechanics in its 2002-2003 search for outstanding
young science researchers. The change will pave way
for greater participation of young Filipino scientists
in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair
to be held in Rocks, Cleveland, USA in May 2003.
Entries to the Fair, in both the individual and team
categories from both Cluster 1 and 2 schools, will be
classified into two major areas of study: the Basic
Sciences and the Applied Sciences. Projects in Botany,
Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics
and Mathematics fall under the former field while those
in Computer Science, Engineering, Medicine and Health,
Earth and Space Sciences, Environmental Science and
Biotechnology fall under the latter.
The competition begins at the Division Level in 0ctober
2002 where the best project for each cluster/category/area
or a total of eight finalists per division proceed on
to the Regional Level in December 2002. The best project
for each cluster/category/area from among the entries
in the Regional Level or a total of eight entries per
region will vie in the National Level of the Science
Fair in February 2003. The Philippine delegates to the
ISEF will be selected from the top winners of this final
phase of the local competition comprising of one Team
Project and two Individual Projects per major area.
The usual Grand Awards and other special awards are
at stake.
Interested young science researchers may submit their
accomplished application forms, copies of project write-up
and project abstract and other requirements to the Science
Education Institute, DOST Regional Office or these can
be sent through the website, www.sei.dost.gov.ph/intel-philsciencefair.

same site.
The IPSF is sponsored by Intel Philippines on its
6th year partnership with the Department of Science
and Technology-Science Education Institute. This year's
implementation of the fair is launched in each region
to generate wide participation from among students in
the area.
