Graduate Degree Programs for Teachers in Teacher Education Institutions Now Open

The Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology announces the opening of scholarship grants under the following programs for school year 2002-2003:

Applicants to the Ph.D. in Science Education programs must have the following qualifications:

1. Master's degree in the basic sciences; or science and mathematics education;
2. General weighted average of "2.0", "B" or better in the undergraduate level or "1.75" or better in the master's level;
3. passed the Doctoral Admission Test in Education, and
4. Qualities and potentialities for leadership,

Qualifications:

• College science/mathematics teachers of TEIs
• With major in the course applied for
• With general weighted average of "2.0", "B" or better in the undergraduate level
• With at lesat three years of teaching experience in the college
• With permanent status
• Not more than 45 years old
• With sound physical and mental health

Requirements:

• Certified true copy of Transcript of Records
• Letter of nomination/recommendation from head of school
• Updated service record
• Very recent medical certificate
• With admission from any of the following: De La Salle University, University of the Philippines at Diliman, University of San Carlos, Cebu City

Scholarship Privileges

• Actual tuition and other fees
• Stipends (P 4,400/mon)
• Book allowance of not more than P3,000/year
• Thesis allowance (P30,000)
