Manpower Development Programs
S&T Scholarship under R.A.
7687 or S&TScholarship Act of 1994 (S&T Scholarship
Program A)
The S&T Scholarship Act of 1994 or Republic Act
7687 seeks to massively increase the S&T manpower
pool of the country by providing more scholarship slots
for both BS and technology courses. The Institute continuously
implements this program to serve S&T-inclined youth
whose economic status restrains them from pursuing tertiary
or post-secondary courses which will enable them to
become productive citizens of the country.

DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship (Formerly
Project 5801 or S&T Scholarship Program B)
A regular scholarship program in baccalaureate degree
programs in specified courses open to qualified incoming
college freshmen from the top 5% of the graduating high
school class.

Junior Level Assistance Program
(JLAP)
Incoming third year college students are offered the
opportunity to take up engineering courses on scholarship,
provided they qualify to the set requirements which
include, among others, a qualifying examination.
BS Scholarships in Science Education
A program which aims to increase the number of qualified
S&T teachers through pre-service education scholarships
in selected teacher training institutions.
S&T Human Resource Development
Planning
In support of the S&T Manpower Development
Program of the country, SEI was mandated to coordinate
the activities of the S&T Human Resource Development
Council which aims to continuously provide projections
of the S&T manpower requirements in Philippine industries
and identify the gaps between supply and demand. The
S&T Human Resource Development Plan will include
a list of specific programs and projects to be undertaken
by various institutions to address identified gaps and
their corresponding monitoring mechanisms and needed
legislative measures.
