After a pandemic-forced hiatus, the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) restarts nuLab, a mobile science laboratory for senior high school students. For its first road trip, it sailed to northern Iloilo to bring the nuLab brand of hands-on science activities facilitated by some of the country’s top scientists.
“May lighter side din pala ang science,” says senior high student Kent Venturanza after attending a session aboard nuLab, a mobile science bus of the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI). The session, titled “Mathsaya,” was facilitated by Dr. Jomar Rabajante, Dean of the University of the Philippines Los Banos Graduate Studies, and Dr. Ariel Babierra, a professor from the same university.

The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) advises its stakeholders, scholars, applicants, and the public to be wary of fake and suspicious social media groups and pages bearing the name or logo of the Institute and/or its flagship DOST Scholarship Program.
The Institute has recently come across numerous websites, and Facebook pages with misleading information about scholarship programs, including fake job offerings. Some of these social media accounts are:

A total of 10,487 students are set to enter college in academic year 2022-2023 as new science scholars as the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) releases the official list of names of the scholarship qualifiers.
For two consecutive years, DOST-SEI did not conduct the national scholarship qualifying examination due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To identify the qualifiers, the Institute employed data analytics and proxy indicators in place of the exam. Documentary requirements were collected through the E-Scholarship Application System including the students’ grades in Grades 9-11.
