Nominations for 3rd Gawad LIDER extended

The search for the big names in the field of science education goes on as the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) extends the deadline for nominations for the 3rd Award for Leadership and Innovation for Development Relevant to Science Education or Gawad LIDER to February 15.
DOST-SEI Director Dr. Filma G. Brawner said the extension was done to provide ample time for more nominations to come in.
Science Explorer brings Science Film Festival to Mountain Province

Around 700 elementary students and teachers from five municipalities of the Mountain Province got a taste of fun and exciting science experience while watching science films as the Science Education Institute’s (SEI) Science Explorer brought the Science Film Festival to the Cordilleras last week.
The Science Explorer, the Philippines’ first and only mobile science learning facility, brought to students and teachers of Bauko, Sabangan, Bontoc, Sagada and Besao a brand new experience in science and technology through interactive science activities coupled with international films to excite the pupils on the wonders of science.
Grace Christian College tops 2011 Tagisang Robotics

Grace Christian College (GCC) Team Gracean Whiz topped the maiden year of the Philippines’ first and only varsity type robotic competition for high school students, Tagisang Robotics, organized by the Science Education Institute, the country’s science and technology human resource development agency.
In partnership with SM Prime Holdings and Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center together with Alexan, Felta Multimedia Inc., Jollibee Foundation, National Instruments, Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology, and Thinklab, Tagisang Robotics seeks to help high school students discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be.
Pisay Baguio studes top 2011 National Water Rocket Competition

DAGUPAN CITY, PANGASINAN - The Philippine Science High School – Cordillera Autonomous Region Campus (PSHS-CAR) bested 13 other schools in the country at the recently concluded National Water-Boosted Rocket Competition in this city.
The team composed of Louie Sandro, John Jester Zeus Castro, and Lorenzo Miguel Gonzales will be off to Singapore in December to represent the Philippines in the Asia Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) Water-Boosted Rocket Competition. They also received a P10,000 cash prize and a certificate. CSI Group of Companies CEO and Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen T. Fernandez also gave US$100 to each of the students for their pocket money.
